Whenever I watch anime I sometimes wonder if what they say is true, or like exaggerated for comedic effect. Some example I can think of :

Black companies : True. Sadly it's still a thing, unpaid overtime and long hours.

Cultural and Sports fest being serious business : True. They get a whole week off to do the cultural test and it's a big deal.

Being otaku= bullied. Half true? In Japan you can get bullied over anything, and anime airs super late in Japan, like midnight or 1am local time. So you either DVR it or get weird looks for staying up so late

High school being best time : Somewhat true. High school you have the most freedom to hang out with friends, have your own schedule, and do what you wanna do before you get sucked into cold hard Japanese companies. There is a reason so many anime have HS as a setting

Student council having most power : False. Just an anime trope. Principal /headmasters have the most power

People dating in HS: Half true? Some schools ban dating and prefer focusing on studies, while sometimes people are too scared to confess. IRL in Japan you're way too busy with your studies or activities to even think about dating

Context: Many people were extremely shocked by the content of MT S3E13 "The Diary". The episode sparked a lot of discussion, and one of the more prominent talking points was the decision to place Ep13 "The Diary" after ep12 "An End and A Beginning".

The idea was that forcing the audience into thinking that the Rudy they had been watching the entire anime was suddenly speedrunning his entire life in the most gruesome, depressing, soul-crashing method possible, then travelling back time time to warn his younger self in a final attempt to get back at Hitogami, would further elevate the element of shock, surprise, and anguish. Then, we see ep12 "An End and A Beginning" right after where Oldeus explains to his younger self what happened, die. The audience then follows a new, younger Rudy that attempts to fix and remedy the mistakes that the first Rudy made.

Rifujin no Magonote, the Author, made a tweet specifically addressing this point:

"Putting episode 13 before episode 12 is certainly a more impactful approach, but it changes the way it's perceived, so that's no good.

To put it simply, if you show the future first and then rewind the timeline, it ends up looking like a "do-over." That would throw off the work's main intent."

What do you guys think?

So as a kid I have watched and enjoyed certain anime’s. But never really finished or watched it continuously. I’m a 28 f and just recently come back from holiday, on the aeroplane i decided to rewatch death note that I haven’t watched in years and omg I spent most of the time watching (that with a few cocktails🤣)

Anyway I’ve binged it all and just want to explore more. A few year ago I watched Seraph of the End which I also enjoyed. There is another one I watched fully with an ex but for the life of me can’t remember the name of it but I think it was a more recent one

Can people give me some recommendations
I like more darker themes, fantasy, supernatural etc. not sure if there is any but I also wlw?

I honestly don't even know how to explain how I feel about it. I started watching it expecting a good psychological anime, but I ended up getting way more attached to the story and characters than I expected.

The slow build really worked for me. It kept adding more and more to the story, and somehow the stakes just kept getting higher. I was always curious about what was going to happen next, even during the slower parts.

What I really loved is that it never felt like things were getting serious just for the sake of it. Every choice and every character seemed to matter. I kept wondering how everything was going to come together.

And then the ending… man. After spending so much time with this story, seeing everything finally come together felt really satisfying. It didn't need some huge final fight or anything crazy. It just gave the story the ending it needed.

Even after finishing it, I kept thinking about the characters and everything they went through. That's when I realized how much Monster actually got to me.

Some anime you watch and move on from. Some stay in your head for a while. Monster is definitely one of those for me.

What part of Monster stuck with you the most after you finished it?

I have gotten bored with most of the new anime so I was rewatching some old favorites and watching some popular stuff i never saw. One was Tokyo revengers. It looks like something i would have watched but I never did. So i was excited to see how many episodes there were. Could this be my new favorite?? No. Absolutely not. I am a few episodes into season 2 and every episode has just made me mad that so many anime I loved over the years never got a season 2 while this guy just goes around being surprised the one change he made didn't make a difference and never learning to fight even though he adores these people that fight and wants to save them… i keep watching and waiting for some big reveal that blows my mind and makes it worth 3 seasons but it is so painful.

Are there any other anime out there like this?
