I care more about how characters move than how flashy the animation looks

I’ve realized that when I watch anime, I pay more attention to how much the characters actually move than how flashy the animation looks.

That’s one reason I love Ghibli movies. Even when nothing major is happening, the characters are still doing small things like walking, turning, eating, looking around, or reacting with their body language. Those little movements make the scene feel alive.

I also love Your Name and The Garden of Words for the same reason. The visuals are obviously beautiful, but what really makes it special to me is how those visuals are combined with natural character movement. The scenes don't just look pretty – they feel alive

It’s not that I dislike flashy animation. I can appreciate it when it’s done well. But if a scene looks beautiful while the characters barely move, I usually don’t feel much from it.

For me, good animation isn’t always about how impressive one shot looks. Sometimes it’s just about making the characters feel like they’re actually living in the scene.

Does anyone else feel the same way?
