What is the most “adult” slice of life anime or show you’ve ever watched?

What is the most “adult” slice of life anime or show you’ve ever watched?

By adult, I do not mean anything explicit or shocking. I mean stories that truly feel grown up and real. Shows that deal with loneliness, regret, work life, broken relationships, aging, money problems, mental health, or the quiet weight of everyday life. I have seen many slice of life shows, but most of them still feel very youthful or ideal. I am looking for recommendations where the characters feel like real adults with real problems. Something slow, grounded, and sometimes uncomfortable. Stories about drifting apart from people, unfulfilled dreams, routine life, isolation, or trying to find meaning when life does not turn out the way you expected. I would really like some underrated or lesser known recommendations and to know why they felt so adult to you.
